Who it may fit
55+ communities are age-qualified housing for adults who live independently. They may offer shared amenities and resident activities, but meals, housekeeping, transportation, personal care, and medical support are not inherent to this housing type.
Financial planning
Compare the full housing budget: monthly rent or home price, HOA dues, taxes, insurance, maintenance, and possible special assessments. Medicare and Medicaid generally do not pay ordinary housing costs; plan separately for any future in-home help or a move to a setting with bundled care.
