CriticalGreat Activities, Poor Resident Hygeine
Like others in our experience, Birchview excelled in some aspects, but was very poor in others. The good part was they have a lively activities program, and don't allow residents to veg out in their rooms all day. Lots of fun stuff going on, and mom loved that. The food was passable. Most of the staff was friendly. Clothes and sheets will get lost even if labelled, so don't get too attached. My main concern was that I don't know if mom ever got bathed (a sponge bath is not enough), nor did they ever wash her hair. …

My father suffered from Alzheimer's & was at Birch View. One day the gardner left the back gate open & my Dad wandered out. His body was not found for about 6 weeks.
