Brookdale Collins Oaks offers on-site conveniences like a beauty/barber shop, a pharmacy, and postal services, and many residents and families find peace of mind knowing staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. An alert system is also used, to offer additional security. A Brookdale HealthPlus ® Community Lastly, the Brookdale HealthPlus program offers residents a higher level of care without higher costs. Here, care coordination is overseen by a registered nurse. Preventative measures such as annual wellness visits, immunizations, and health screenings, as well as support for chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure, are offered to help avoid trips to doctors’ offices, or unnecessary emergency room visits and hospital stays. Three different styles and sizes are available, but each space includes a private bathroom, plenty of closet space, and large windows to provide ample sunlight. Care Types Offered Brookdale Collin Oaks is a Type B assisted living facility . In the state of Texas, these terms are defined as follows: Assisted Living Facility A facility that provides personal care services and administration of medication to 4 or more residents. Assisted living facilities can accept residents with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s. There are 3 types of assisted living facilities: Type A: A facility that may provide room and board to residents who are physically and mentally capable of evacuating the facility unassisted. Type B: A facility that may provide room and board to residents who need assistance evacuating, are incapable of following directions under emergency conditions, require staff attendance during nighttime sleeping hours, and require assistance transferring to and from a wheelchair. Type C (Adult Foster Care): Four-bed facilities that meet the minimum standards and rules for enrollment in the Department of Aging and Disability Services’ Adult Foster Care home program.
