About Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony

At Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony, residents have access to enriching memory care programming, dementia-friendly activities, specialized menus, transportation assistance, and a host of other services. Located off Daniels Parkway near 6 Mile Cypress, you will find an abundance of convenient services under one roof. Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony uses two memory care programs — Clare Bridge and Solace. The Clare Bridge program is an exclusive brand of dementia care that was established more than 30 years ago. This program provides residents with six daily activities that encourage the use of their current skills and abilities. Meanwhile, the Solace program provides additional support specifically to residents in the late stages of dementia. It offers assistance with grooming and includes specialized activities involving music and aromatherapy. Rest assured, staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency, and an alert system is also used for added security. Throughout the community, you will find a variety of safe engagement opportunities, including gardening activities as well as kitchen and handywork. If needed, assistance during mealtime is offered. Plus, the culinary team provides easy-to-manage selections in a small dining room with pre-selected seating. These small details allow residents to thrive in a safe, yet familiar environment each day. Community Services and Amenities Here, residents can choose to stay busy and active, or embrace a quieter lifestyle — the choice is always yours. Participate in jazz music therapy or trivia nights. Some additional on-site perks include pharmacy and postal services, as well as a therapy room. Brookdale also offers a helpful program that can save you a drive to the local store — the Personal Solutions program. Review for Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony

It was 5 stars at first but when they lost a lot a staffing...it went to more like 3 stars. I know it takes a lot to take care of all the needs of so many people. We noticed changes in the cleanliness, lack of staff in the main area. Many times there may not be any staff at all in the main area.

Our family experience

They have hired a new Wellness Director who is still in training. Not sure when they start. The activities director seems good. She engages the residents and has a mix of activities and folks from the outside coming in. The staff are very kind and caring. The facility is older and I think needs a refurbishment. The food is ok. I understand from the cooks that they don't have a lot of freedom on what they prepare. Menu seems set by Brookdale Corporate. I think they should have more frequent housekeeping. But overall

Some staffing challenges

It has taken 6 weeks for staff to do their jobs correctly. [name removed], Wellness Director is wonderful. Food is good. The Social Director left 4 weeks ago. Still no replacement. The Executive Director got a promotion and has gone to another Brookdale location. There is a temporary Executive Director.

An Answer To Our Prayers

The facility is always clean, decorated, provides a happy vibe appeal. The staff is excellent. They work hard as a team to deliver excellent care to the residents. Communication has been wonderful. I could not ask for a better place four our family member. Since she has been there she looks so much better/happier.
