About the community
Embrace person-centered care and find your purpose here at Brookdale Puyallup South. This homey, family-oriented memory care community supports seniors and families in Puyallup, Alderton, McMillin, South Hill, Summit, and many other surrounding neighborhoods in Pierce County. Here, dementia-experienced team members take the time to learn about residents' health histories, everyday routines, and preferences. In an effort to provide well-rounded support, this community offers two memory care programs. The Clare Bridge program — an exclusive brand of dementia care created more than 30 years ago — supports residents in the early stages of dementia by providing six structured activities a day, encouraging them to use their individual skills. Meanwhile, the Solace program provides an additional layer of support and is designed for residents in advanced stages of dementia. This specialized program includes additional hands-on personal care and incorporates activities with music and aromatherapy. Rest assured, residents’ safety is prioritized just as much as their care. Staff members are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency situation. The community features large circular paths, way-finding cues, secured entrances and exits, keypad entries, and an emergency alert system. While staff manages your care, meals, and daily chores, you can make yourself right at home. In your free time, be sure to check out the woodworking shop and the well-stocked library, or you can cozy up with your friends in the warm living room. There are plenty of amenities and services available to simplify your days. Community Services and Amenities Whether it’s brain games, coffee social groups, music programs, or other activities, there are an abundance of choices here to keep minds and bodies active. This program can help you take care of small errands and tasks. Simply send the staff a list of necessities, like lotion, shampoo, body wash, or other personal items. At no additional cost for delivery, your personal hygiene items will be brought directly to your door in a timely manner. CriticalThis place seems to really not like Medicare patients. Once private pay had been made for several years and my mother‘s money was completely gone. I applied for Medicare for her. Brookdale Puyallup South immediately retroactively removed cash discounts and added on several thousand dollars to the bill. They then threatened to evict her and not take medicare payments until I had paid the bill in full myself. They said they would turn it over to the attorneys and she would be forced to leave. Luckily, Medicare took …

PositiveMy mom has been there 2 months now, she likes her room, has settled in very nicely Staff are very friendly, helpful Lots of activities for the residents and their families also. They celebrate the holidays with songs from outside people coming in to sing and encourage residents to join in. We are happy with the placement we choose for my mom

CriticalIt was not a great experience. We left after my mom was there for only a month. I don't even know where to begin. I could go on and on. From not being able to gain access to the building, we literally sat in the foyer for 20 minutes, trying to gain access, to my mom having medicine in her pockets, on the floor, in couch cushions. To her room being a mess every single time that we went there. Food being left out for multiple days. My mom had one shower in a month. We discussed with leadership over there on multiple …
