On a positive note the food was very good. The cleaning staff do a very consistent job of cleaning the rooms and hallways. The rooms are spacious enough and efficient. However, this is all overshadowed by the lack of compassionate understanding of basic ways to treat dementia patients by a few staff members including nursing. The director stated prior to accepting my husband that they were well trained in how to handle sundowning and aggression yet they instead videotaped my husband's aggressive episode instead of …

The staff was/is very friendly, professional, & always helpful to whatever your needs may be. The facility was keep very clean. The food was prepared fresh daily for patients. My wife was only there for 11 days. She had a breathing issue/ went to ER & passed 10 days later.

My husband received poor care from Brookdale. He received 2 UTIs. He lost 25 pounds in a month from being allowed to sleep through meals. The director kept raising his rate and then said he had to leave. He has been at [removed name]since July where he has improved significantly. I have never had a complaint and he has gained weight. I do not believe Brookdale is staffed well enough to deep their residents safe.

Aides were wonderful. But, they were required to also be the cleaning staff. The establishment definitely moved their focus from patient to profit during the 6 months my mother was a resident.
