The staff are all friendly. Mom likes [name removed] and [name removed]. They seem to care the most. [name removed] ( housekeeper) looks in on her too on occasion. The shuttle driver, [name removed] is great guy! He watches out for these folks on the outings, and has walked mom to her Dr appts. Nice man! I know she's in Independent Living, but I just wish they'd allow the RN to check in on her once in awhile. Mom's still pretty independent, but on occasion, she needs a little extra attention. So, I'm answering for my Mom who resides there and I think she would say five! :) We like having an emergency call bracelet, meals, laundry is done meticulously, great housekeeping, PT available on site to name a few things. Also weekly activities/trips. Yes, we would recommend Brookstone Of Mattoon South to other families.

Brookstone South in Mattoon is a very accessible property with an amazing staff and activities. My mom loves to stay active, and there are a lot of opportunities to get involved. The residents are very welcoming and embrace new members, making the move in process so much less stressful. My mom enjoys the food, and more so the company at meal time. Great find for anyone over 55 looking for independent living with a great support staff.

Everything is a five according to Mom, however the food is a two. She often has a snack or meal in her room. She realizes the cooks only get so much to work with, but the meals disappoint her. Breakfast is probably the best!

PositiveOverall satisfied with a few small improvements
The inside of the facility including the individual apartments are beautiful. However the courtyard space is pathetic. All of the staff is amazing except [name removed], I believe she is the director. She is extremely unapproachable and very abrupt with all, should not be holding this position in my opinion. The activities are nice for the ladies although I don't believe there is much for the male residents.
