Friendly staff, but high turnover

The staff are great but a lot of overturn....food according to residences could be better....meat tough, not enough variety, activities good....cleanliness is pretty good, could always be better. Only have upright sweepers with no attachments so anything with upholstery seems neglected. Cable is Poor quality, even in common areas....for the price $[removed]+/month could be upgraded!

Disappointed

Memory care Staff warm & welcoming at interview & tour but after move in it was difficult to get a return call from the Director of Facility No natural light in common area where residents are sitting & eating Very dark & depressing Limited activities Had to ask to have bathroom cleaned ( in residents room) Night shift in memory care not well trained to redirect or handle difficult situations at night Did not adhere to diabetic diet when needed

Security for Mom

When my father died in October, they were so very kind & considerate...to my father, to the family, but especially to my mother. That sat with her till I could get there and really showed a get deal of care in the days that followed. I know they struggle to keep well staffed but they have some long time, extra caring people on their staff. Mom has serious vision problems but they continue to encourage her to participate in activities. I really like that she isn't left to sit in her room alone all the time.

We were extremely impressed with the staff and facility. The location is central to State College although the driveway entrance to the facility was oddly laid out.

Family oriented community

The residents are lovely people who have created an environment where they treat each other as family. The nursing staff leaves a bit to be desired. Blood pressure not taken when ordered by physician, call bells not answered in a timely manner and communication between staff and family could be better. The dietary staff treat the residents like they are in a fine dining restaurant. However, the food could be better.

We had a rough start adjusting & they seemed to get lost/forgotten by the busy staff. But I stayed an advocate for them to get them the needed attention that they were not always willing to ask for. Most of the staff is very friendly & they work hard. The activities director is amazing. She works to daily interesting activities and special trips/entertainment for them.
