I would give all categories a 5 with the exception of the activities, only because my dad has no interest in participating in the activities so I don't know how well they do. Discovery Commons is a beautiful facility- exactly the kind of place you’d want your loved one to be cared for and cherished during their time of need. They offered the type and kind of continuity of care services needed by families seeking assisted living and memory care options for their loved one.

Staff was really nice, facility Nice and clean, modern. Looking forward for my mother-in-law to enjoy her stay.

Here's the problem. I couldn't control or handle my husband's change in behavior. So he went to Whittier Place. It turned out that he had a severe urinary tract infection which caused a psychotic episode. He also was diagnosed with stage 1 dementia. As the infection cleared up he was acting pretty much like his normal self. But the head nurse kept telling me that he would have these issues again and that he should stay there. I found the place to be nice cheery and clean. The staff was nice and friendly. The place had a very nice court yard for people to walk around in. I loved the court yard. The food was good for the most part except my father did not like the taste of the meat. I have only one minor criticism. The medical care was mediocre at best. We changed my father's family doctor for the health program at the facility. They only had s nurse practitioner that came on a few days a week and no medical doctor. My father had to have …

Doors that open into a pleasant and friendly home

Was very impressed with all that I experienced there. Felt very comfortable leaving my mother during her stay at Discovery. Starting from the receptionist, office personnel, the care givers were always friendly and helpful. Definitely would consider if I need another stay for mom, I would feel comfortable having her stay.
