Friendship Care Home is a small, independent care home licensed for thirty three residents. Our home is a great choice for someone who needs special care but wants to remain in an intimate, warm setting with full independence. We are near the Antioch Animal Refuge and boat release, ideal for those who are interested in nature conservation and would like opportunities for volunteer work. It is a quiet and still community space, separated from the rest of the neighborhood by a steel fence, with a long driveway leading up to our home to accommodate cars or large vehicles for transporting our residents. Our staff is dedicated to serving each of our resident’s individual needs – we aim to celebrate those we serve, helping them remain independent and able to make their own choices. Living Options and Amenities Friendship Care Home is a purpose-built yet welcoming community with a spotlight on individualized care. That means that every characteristic of the home, from the design and layout to the available amenities, is designed to cater to the special needs and safety of our residents. There are multiple styles of private and shared rooms available, so feel free to choose what best suits your specific needs. Private bathrooms are an option, as well as wheelchair-accessible showers. We offer accessible rooms and living areas, with ramps and handrails where needed. Residents enjoy a spacious environment equipped with televisions and large windows. Wifi, telephone, and cell service is available in every room and throughout the home. Air conditioning and heat are provided for the comfort and safety of our residents and to maintain an inviting atmosphere. To ensure the security of those prone to wandering, our property is fully enclosed within fences. Dining Amenities Our home is equipped with a full-service kitchen, and we prepare meals throughout the day for all residents. Three meals are served per day, with snacks in between. We offer individual meal options to accommodate preferences and dietary needs of all kinds. Meals are prepared daily with fresh ingredients, from specially-designed menus that always have our residents’ health in mind. Our dining hall is a welcoming environment where all residents may enjoy their meals together, and meals may also be taken to private dining areas if preferred. We have cookouts and picnics as well, and serve every style of meal that you or your loved one may request. Common Areas Indoor common areas are a nice, quiet place to enjoy the company of your friends or to simply sit and relax. Residents have full access to all common rooms, including TV and activity rooms, as well as our computer room with internet access. We provide a cozy atmosphere to gather around and socialize with your neighbors. Outdoor common areas are designed with accessibility, flow, and movement in mind. Our home is surrounded by spacious grounds with a walking path, garden, and sitting area to enjoy the breeze, the birds, and the fresh air. Our entire premises are secured to ensure all of our residents are safe and protected. Activities Staff members at Friendship keep an updated activities calendar full of organized and planned events for all residents to take part in. You or your loved one will enjoy a full schedule of social, educational, and entertaining pastimes that provide a stimulating experience. Our residents stay mentally and physically active with specially-curated on-site activities such as puzzles, games, and walking trips, just to name a few. Live musical entertainment is also organized by our staff on a regular basis. On karaoke nights, our residents can put their singing skills on display for all to see. Off-site trips are very popular among our community members, as well. We do our best to make sure everyone experiences a healthy, entertaining, and fulfilling time during their stay in our home. Our structured programs help all residents maintain a high quality of living by encouraging socialization, friendship, and camaraderie among each other. Personal Services All of our residents have access to our transportation services at a reasonable cost, and for our more independent residents, our home is conveniently located near public transportation services. We offer free parking to all residents and their visitors as well. Laundry services are provided to residents in-house so that there is always a clean rotation of bedding and clothes. Our community has staff members who speak Spanish, providing a greater ease of communication with residents of varying linguistic backgrounds. Local Area Friendship Care Home is surrounded by a spacious, suburban setting, while still providing close proximity to the many stores and restaurants around waterfront Antioch. There are wetlands close by at the San Joaquin Riverfront, along with a wildlife refuge. We are ideally situated near retail stores, drug stores, and other local conveniences, and are just several miles away from numerous places of worship. Hospitals, physicians, and rehabilitation centers can all be reached within a short drive. On the other side of the highway, there are more public park spaces to explore and enjoy in the cooler evening hours. Medical Care Services Friendship Care Home employs trained staff members who are available on-site around the clock to provide personalized care and assistance with any time-sensitive needs. Registered nurses are employed to oversee medication and treatment, and aid in administering injections when needed. This home is not licensed by the state to offer medication dispensing services, however residents are supported in their self-medication efforts as much as possible and are able to schedule medication reminders. An on-call doctor is available to provide consultations and respond to any urgent medical needs. Regular visits from specialized occupational therapists are available to aid residents in their development, recovery, and maintenance of skills needed for daily living. Speech therapy services are provided by trained and certified speech pathologists, and we recruit a visiting podiatrist to ensure our residents are happy, fit, and mobile. Our home is equipped with a Hoyer lift for total transfers, and our staff is trained to assist residents in need of help with activities of daily living (ADLs). We also offer care for those who are bed bound. The perimeter of our community is secured, ensuring the safety of our wandering residents. We offer respite care – a short-term stay at a senior living community – perfect for those recovering from a hospital visit, the interim during which a caregiver takes an extended vacation, or simply to experience a senior living trial period. Friendship Care Home also provides on-site hospice care when needed. Care Types Offered Friendship Care Home is licensed as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly , or RCFE, which in the state of California refers to a housing arrangement chosen voluntarily by persons 60 years of age or over, or their authorized representative, where varying levels and intensities of care and supervision, protective supervision, or personal care are provided, based upon their varying needs, as determined in order to be admitted and to remain in the facility. RCFEs are also referred to as assisted living facilities and board and care facilities . Persons under 60 years of age with compatible needs may be allowed to be admitted or retained in an RCFE, if certain conditions are met.
