PositiveStill a good place for mom
My mother is still at heritage house and is doing well. I don't think she likes some of the meals but overall I still think it's a nice place. The staff seems kind and the place is well maintained. I would recommend to others.

The staff is pretty good, Dad has had a few comments about good and interesting staff. Food has been pretty good overall. Lots of pasta, which makes Dad have a stomach ache but he mentioned it and they seemed to start having more potatoes instead. ???? I don't think Dad is participating in many activities yet. But he hasn't complained so I don't mind. It's still pretty new to him. He mentions meeting lots of interesting people so I think that is good for him. The apartment is lovely! Positives: Staff seems genuinely kind. There are a lot of activities. My gets a lot of exercise via their PT program. It is a well maintained facility. Negatives: she doesn't like the food very much. It is carb heavy and bland.

CriticalHorrible Experience...Stay Away
Overall we had a pretty bad experience. We paid extra each month for medication management. The staff completely messed up my dad's meds several times, landing him in the hospital. The admin staff were horrible. On several occasions they never got back to my phones calls and we're not available for in person meetings. My dad went down hill very quickly after moving there and only lasted 10 months. He finally was not being able to recover from one of the medication mishaps and died at the hospital, on his birthday. …

I give all categories a 5. My dad really likes it there. The only thing he complains about is the van/bus they use to take trips. It's super old and has no shocks so the old folks are tossed around and could possibly get hurt. Dad won't ride it anymore because it hurts his back too much to bounce around like that. My dad is hard to please so if he likes it, it must be nice!

We love Heritage of Portage. They take really good care of my parents and do a great job. I go in there and the other residents and staff tell me how sweet my parents are. The staff are wonderful and do their best to try and make everyone happy. We are very pleased with the whole experience and have already recommended them to our friends and family.
