Kern City was developed between 1961 and 1977 by Del Webb and was their follow-up to Sun City Arizona, the first 55+ community in the United States. Kern City built upon the success of Sun City Arizona by incorporating the style that made that community such a hit but in a more intimate setting. Kern City has 1,024 homes and an active clubhouse where residents come together to take part in activities and explore their interests.
