About Kingsmill Kingsmill is a large, master-planned community located along the James River in Williamsburg, Virginia. Though the community is not entirely 55+, many neighborhoods offer homes with features that appeal to active adult homebuyers like first-floor master suites and homeowners' associations that provide community maintenance and lawn care. This sprawling community is built around three golf courses with a total of 63 holes. The River course regularly hosts championship events while the Plantation and Woods courses offer challenges to players of all levels of skill. Several clubhouses are the site of numerous resort-like amenities that distinguish Kingsmill and make a highly desirable community in the region. These clubhouses have plenty of gathering space, a spa, bakery, gift shop, outdoor pools and seating areas, a lazy river, tennis courts, and restaurants ranging from the casual to the more formal Bray Dining Room. Outdoors, a large marina is popular with residents that own boats or yachts. There are also ponds and small lakes ideal for fishing as well as miles of trails connecting neighbors. Kingsmill has its own beach for residents use that is also the site of the highly regarded James Landing Grille. To say the Williamsburg area is steeped in history would be an understatement. Kingsmill itself encompasses numerous noteworthy sites from the time of the American Revolution to the Civil War. For day-to-day needs, a Harris Teeter sits just outside of the gated entrance and a shopping center with a Target, Best Buy, and several other retail stores are just under four miles away. The city of Williamsburg welcomes visitors to discover the quaint shops, fine restaurants, and historic sites along its winding, Colonial-era streets.
