Memory Haven

This was a nice, clean environment. The staff seemed to take good care of the residents. The residents seemed complacent and not very responsive.

Better training

It was hard to get them to understand that the patient was allergic to morphine and the hospice folks were taking her from once Every 4 hours - they bumped it up to once every hour. They need better training for dealing with a patient on hospice, especially the feeding of the patient. My wife could not swallow, so the food was being packed up in her nasal passage.

Oops I forgot what I was thinking

So hard to deliver my Dad to a care facility. But, I liked MH right from the beginning. Caring, helpful staff and care givers. I have not met one person here who isn't wearing a smile. I know my Dad can get out of hand occasionally and they handled it, no problem. Also, my Dad is always happy and smiling as well and that's what is most important too me. Only down side, a little bit spendy

Review for Memory Haven

It's a different experience for each person. The facility is nice and I would say too expensive for the amount of services. It's not a perfect place but there really isn't any place like your own home. We've had a few issues but have always been able to have them addressed although it was very frustrating. Often understaffed and overworked employees. We had a plumbing issue that took too long to be addressed. Housekeeping lacks. Two incidents with medication. Laundry care is terrible at times. A welcome relief after [community removed]

The staff here have done an excellent job with redirection and diffusing when my mom has gotten agitated. They’ve been very helpful with techniques for our family as well. My mom has started adjusting and improving after 2 weeks.

Not the right fit

I placed my wife in Memory Haven on a Thursday. She was still wearing that same outfit on Sunday. I was the one who changed her clothes. The only activity I observed was a lady had a coloring page, set up a radio and had only one individual partaking. The only real time I saw a gathering of patients was at meal time. The only other people ( two or three) were placed in front of a TV that was seldom monitored... most of them were asleep. Of course, this was over a weekend, so I don't know if staffing was sparse.
