We spent a lot of time looking at other facilities. We checked corners of hallways for cleanliness, dust on light fixtures, how the staff greeted people not only us, room designs, security, programs for residents, and of course cost to live there. Many more things but how the facility is managed was very important.

The caregiver staff are not consistent, nor are they necessarily kind. There are a few caregivers who have empathy, but the younger ones lack empathy and patience. There is a high turnover in staff. The director is inexperienced and rarely has her door open nor does she get out and visit with the residents The waitress staff are slow and don't always get your order correct. I have had my mother there over a year. They have forgot to invite me to her care conference every three months. The turnover is horrible. Staff in the memory care sleep all the time. I've had to wake the up to let me out of the locked unit. Lots of her things have been stolen and not by other residents. My mother is on a wait list for another place and I can't wait to remove her. It's a nice building. There are plenty of friendly residents, so making friends is easy. The food is mediocre, obviously bought frozen then reheated. It's expensive, but most of the other places are more expensive.
