Oakmont of San Antonio Heights

This community is amazing. I enjoyed the tour and now have a 'gold' standard to compare other communities with. [name removed] was very professional and helpful.

I toured Oakmont in hopes of finding a facility for my mom. They did not have a private room available in memory care but the place is very nice and organized for the residents that live there. [Name Removed] was very compassionate and knowledgeable with any questions I had and would definitely recommend this facility for anyone looking for a place for their loved ones

Overall great place

Friendly and helpful staff, supportive environment, clean, good food service, occasional changes in staffing that can create inconsistency, currently no hairdresser available, but otherwise very good place for Mom. It's "home" to her and we're thankful she has found community there.

Overpriced and understaffed.

Yes, it's a lovely place. However, for the money, the services (which they advertise as above and beyond what other facilities provide) do not match up. I have been there when the staff was rude or intolerant of my mother's dementia. When she moved in, promises were made regarding care, speed of response when summoned, professional training of staff, etc, etc. None of it was true. I was there when my mother summoned help to the bathroom and I had to take her because no one came. Other times it would take over an h…

Review for Oakmont of San Antonio Heights

If you are comfortable with up to 20 minute response times for residents requesting assistance and not worried about loved ones dying during that delayed response time, it's very pretty. Woefully understaffed and poorly managed. It's just not a good place for residents that need assistance. Decent senior facility, not good at all as an assisted living facility.

Excellence under achieved without more resident and family feedback

On quality of care, I find Oakmont is unable to be effective in driving food choices for my diabetic mother. It seems like creativity around menu has fallen off over the last few months. Underlying drivers of total cost isn't clear through the billing and is really hard to get under even when speaking directly. Future residents really should understand that total cost can easily be more than double room and board.
