Short staffed, but nice staff

Overall, the staff is very kind and does their best, but the facility often seems short-staffed, which affects the level of care. Over the two-week stay, she was fed and appeared to receive medications, but there were some concerns with consistency. She was only showered twice during that period. Her partial dentures were lost, and there were also instances of medications being ordered that didn’t seem necessary. I stopped by and was not impressed. Caregivers are anything but! Management is never there. You'll be lucky to get them 9am to 3pm. Food is worse than school food. If you want an elevated substitute, be prepared for an old PB&J sandwiches or Grilled cheese. The place is dirty and old. One wing has bad dog odor and barking. I am absolutely delighted with the care and environment at Brookdale El Camino. Moving my mother there has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. She is genuinely happy, and I am especially impressed with the variety of engaging activities consistently offered throughout the day, which help give her a sense of purpose and fulfillment. They help with everything especially [name removed] she is so caring and just made us all feel good about our decision to move my parent in to assisted living...
