The staff is helpful and caring to the patient and the family. Addington Place is clean and no issues with odor or unpleasant smells. The room size is adequate and appropriate for a patient's needs. The food is good and my husband has no complaints whatsoever. The dining area is picked up and cleaned promptly after the meal. There are activities planned for the afternoons during the week. The sales director was easy to contact, stay in touch with, and was very flexible with my schedule. When we got there, she had printed information to keep with us and also gave us a small gift! The tour was informational without being too long, we got to meet some of the staff and residents. The building is older, but well maintained. The DON is the mother-in-law of the director so, when there was a meeting of any kind where both are involved the director was not allowed to speak My apartment was rarely cleaned due to the lack of staffing. The nepotism bothered me , their insistence on the safety items were not the same as what I had and 3 days after surgery they took my traction mat and Iowa state approved hand rail and though they gave them back after 3 days they did not install them which lead to my big toe having to be amputated. Moved my mom to addington a little over a year ago. She is enjoying the socializing and I’m relieved to know there are people who are there to monitor Mom and make sure she’s safe. The staff know every resident and are friendly and caring and have positive attitudes. This has been a good move at a difficult time.
