If I think of it objectively, considering only Avalon House, I would rate the experience as a 5. (If I describe the overall experience, I would have to include the personal pain and unhappiness that each of us has experienced. The Care for My Mom

My brother heard from a neighbor about Avalon, for my Mom was getting to be to much for me to care for. So after having a Great tour with [Name Removed], my siblings and I decided we would put into Avalon where she could get the care she needed. Great Experience

I could not have been more pleased with the care my mom received at Avalon. She was always clean, and well groomed. My mom used to love to take long showers at home & they bathed her daily unlike many other facilities. Despite her dementia diagnosis, she seemed to make friends with the other residents and really connected with the caregivers who took such great care of her. They did a great job to make my mom feel special. From time to time, I would get sent photos of my mom playing Bingo which she loved.

Avalon is a good home for your loved one

I think the residents are well looked after - my husband is always clean, dressed and fed, but his teeth could use more frequent brushing. I have not seen any interaction between the caregivers and him. His teeth are not brushed frequently enough, and I wish the staff would keep me informed about my husband's condition. I would say my friend was safe , everyone bored but that's not the fault of staff, The price was much more affordable than nursing home or alternative . And a homey atmosphere is always better

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review & feedback. We are so pleased you felt your friend was safe while residing in our home. That is extremely important. We are also thrilled you found the facility to be homey and a better alternative to the large facilities. We feel all facilities have pros & cons. If one is looking for a facility that does activities all day long, a large facility is wonderful for that. Our homes do 3 per day and there is down time. We share that a few times to families when they are touring so they can make the best choice for their loved one when choosing a facility. The down time is spent together in the living room or dining room much like one would do in their own home. We invite and encourage the residents to participate in the activities we offer. However, there are times in which one may say no, and we do honor their "no". We do have a dietician that comes to our homes to consult with diets and the menus. We offer special diets and can individualize them with the help of the dietician. We truly appreciate you took the time to write a review. Not only do we find the feedback helpful as a company, but others taking the time to read it as they search for a facility for their loved one will as well.

Avalon House Cawdor Court

We cannot express our complete joy and hippieness that our mother received at the Avalon House at Cawdor Court. Mom was there for over 5 years and the total care and attention including the staff's friendship for life was outstanding! Opal and Noel were with her all five years, and they kept our family at peace with their care and love for her. Keith, Rieta, Mark and Marianna.
