I was contacted by phone and received an invitation to tour Bickford Place and its independent living apartments that were currently available. Our hostess led us through the spacious common area that serves as a dining area. Then we were shown two apartments of differing sizes and on different levels of the building. She was very patient in letting us take our time in looking at each unit and in answering all of our questions. We first met with Makenna on a Tuesday to discuss moving my sister there. Then we returned on Wednesday with my sister and went through the whole tour again. My sister also was evaluated at that time. The facility is older than the others we toured, but it was very clean and roomy. The dining room is a beautiful place with the high ceiling and skylights. All of the staff we met were very friendly.

Bickford is older, and perhaps slightly more worn than most of the places I've looked at, but what they call apartments, are actually small apartments with separate rooms. I find that very appealing, in that it feels more like a complete home within the apartment. And, there is a possibility that I will be able to secure a bathtub for my mother within the facility. Overall nice community

The staff was very helpful when I went to speak to them, when looking for a place for our Father. It's small enough that he gets the help that he needs and its more of a community setting opposed to a large facility for the elderly. The food is usually top tier with eggs, oatmeal, sausage for breakfast. They have activities such as bingo, church, holiday gatherings and other activities.
