PositiveThe value for cost is a 4 but then there isn't any facility that is affordable really and then IF it was affordable then the rest of the care would probably be bad. My dad loves the food (and he was a cook in the air force and always has loved to cook) it took him a couple months to settle in but now he calls it home and the staff have been wonderful and understanding. The administrative staff have always answered all my questions. As of now we are very happy with Brookdale

PositiveI like the people working in the memory care unit. They really seem to care about the residents.

CriticalThey were always understaffed. Meals were ok, I couldn't say good. They did have some coloring after dinner that some residents participated in. Our family member was sent to the ER the first 2 mornings she was there, her behavior was what we had told them it would be. We were informed that if we initiated hospice that wouldn't need to happen again so that's what we did and it was best. Prevention measures for pressure wounds were repeatedly not taken. The nursing staff was good in the last week of life.

PositiveMany staff overworked because there aren't enough. When they quit, get sick, get hours reduced for pay reasons, etc, it's very hard on the ones left. Too much going to top level executives, not much consideration for who it is affecting. Very little training in kitchen workers. Not good nutrition usually for the elderly. Sorry for negative comments...our move has been good in many ways also. Love the people and social life ie talking to others!

CriticalIf you have other options, do not placed your loved one within the Memory Care unit. We removed my father as soon as possible after he experienced a drastic change in condition days after being admitted. Brookdale could not provide the staffing levels to provide him the care he needed. He was not bathed or groomed and my family had to step in and provide 24/7 1:1 care for him until we informed the Long-Term Care Ombudsman and got licensing involved. This facility cannot provide a safe level of staffing or the bar…

PositiveMom was in Memory Care, therefore I can only address this area. 1. 5 2. 3-4 depending on staff 3. 5 of course I was friendly with them, instead of adversarial. The staff genuinely cared for and liked mom. They thought she had quite a personality. 4. 4-5 depending on staffing. As a retired RN and NP I worked with the nursing and support staff to help them meet mom's needs. 5. 3-4 Administrative staff in the facility was helpful and addressed concerns. However, it was corporate that dictated staffing which was not al…
