Staff are professional and mostly kind. Nurses are good about updating me about any changes in Mom's condition. The food could be better. It's a more home-like environment and smaller, which might appeal to those who would feel kind of lost in a bigger setting. Overall I would recommend.

The biggest frustration is the level of after-hours staffing. This is probably not uncommon but if someone needed serious attention late at night it would be a while before they would be attended to. Visiting my mother I get stuck outside way too long waiting for help entering/exiting. We also had a bed bugs situation that wasn't handled very well by all involved. We like Brookdale Oakwood and we're not too critical, but the housekeeping/overall cleanliness/age of building, etc. contribute to its Value score. They…

The facility doesn't resemble an institution so much as a beautiful, quiet home. The winding staircase and layout of the common rooms reinforce this feeling. Patios and outside areas are very nice, well cared for, and also quiet, given that the building is adjacent to Far Hills Avenue. The staff is very friendly and responsive. I like the staff at the facility. They are willing to help in anyway that they can and helped me with the transition by listening to me during really difficult times I like that the common areas stay very clean. I like how they serve the residents food in the dining area. I do not like that they are not staffed according to needs especially on the weekends. The cleaning lady only works every other weekend and I have not been there but once and did not have to clean my loved ones room, clean off the toilet seat, cle…
