Review for Brookdale Troy

The facility was always clean, the staff was very nice to my Mom and our family. The room and bathroom were a decent size. The facility had a wide range of activities for the residence. The facility was very quiet. The one negative comment I have is that the emergency pull chord wasn't reattached when her room was prepared. My Mom fell out of bed and no one came when she pulled the chord. She had to scream until someone came in.

The food is not designed for anyone that is Type 2 diabetic. Unfortunately, no place is designed for that. It fosters higher blood sugars. I still consider it the next best thing to having my mom in my home.

We always thought Brookdale was lovely from the outside, but after our tour, we were just as impressed with the inside as well. We liked it too because it has fewer people there, then in other Assisted Living places residents were very friendly and staff were all amazing and kind.

To sum up my experience in choosing and having my mom move into Brookdale of Troy, it's been a good experience. It is an older building, but it is clean, welcoming and feels homey. The staff although there is some turnover most are 5 to 20 year employees so it feels like family. They know and treat the residents and their families with respect. Back in October, when mom moved in, food was not good. They have since hired a new cook and are serving afternoon snacks and have a snack bar available 24/7. There is a nurs…

Review for Brookdale Troy

1) The meals are lacking. High carb, with no diabetic options. Very little effort and money is invested in feeding their residents. 2) I'm not even sure that they actually have a housekeeper. The room went nearly 3 months without being cleaned. 3) and other than the in-house doctor, they were extremely lacking in follow-up care, distributing medicine, and keeping medication in stock.
