PositiveCaring Staff - Wonderful Facility
Awesome staff. The battle with bed bugs has been a deal. Not their fault, but it has taken a very long time and we are hopeful it is now under control. I would absolutely recommend Brookdale. Regardless, of this hiccup, which they are working on, we do believe the people and program are great.

The overall experience has been a 5 hands down. All staff have been helpful and accommodating as well as watchful to his needs for a 93 year old man. The staff communicates frequently with us which has been a blessing. He loves the food and shows up early for every meal. This man has not gone many places in the last twenty years, (since his wife died) but he has been to a couple of outings every week with a bunch of women! Although its assisted living, it is safer to me than normal assisted living, being that it's a locked unit. You can't get in or out without a staff member opening the door. My grandma has early dementia, so that's perfect for her. She has the freedom of assisted living, but the safety of a memory care type unit so she can't wander out if it came to that. The building is smaller, being only 35-40 apartments, compared to others I looked at, which were hundreds of units. It's very clean, all the staff is very friendl…

The facility is always clean and well maintained. Everyone of the staff is fabulous. I have never seen a place so devoted to the care of your loved one. They communicate all items pertaining to your loved one. No decision is ever made without your permission. I find this very comforting. I wouldn't trust my mother in law any where else.

I only dealt with a couple people but [name removed] was wonderful. With the value for cost it is hard to say since they never lived there. Based on the limited interaction I had with them, yes. But I would warn people about our experience where we signed a contract and paid for 2 months before they told us that they couldn't accommodate my parents needs. Brookdale Valpo was my top choice by a mile. It was based on the size of the facility, and the feel I got about the staff being available and eager to help and pay attention to my dad. Perfect for my dad. He is not very mobile and wanted a small efficient layout.
