Grand Brook works for my mom

I wish they were a little more responsive to requests and inquiries about more minor health situations. That said, Mom's health since she moved in has been pretty strong and they have been responsive on the important things, so overall I believe they are watching her health pretty closely. Mom has shown improvement in her daily self care, ability to hold conversations and in her day-to-day outlook. Quiet, calm, loving atmosphere. I can see Mom doing very well here. Loved that it is a smaller facility, with greater chance for close interaction with family/patient and staff. Loved that Memory Care and Assisted Living activities are integrated. Very very positive first impression.

Grand Brook Memory Care

It can take a while to be let in and out the front door since it must be maintained as locked at all times. Staffing seems a little lean on nights and weekends. Overall, though, it's quite lovely and my mom seems to love it

Highly recommend considering Grand Brook for memory care

The biggest thing is my mom is actually better than she was going in, in terms of her anxiety, her fears, eating (she is slowly gaining some much-needed weight), even attending more to her own ADLs without specific direction. She enjoys the activities, especially going to daily devotions, and her regular table mates for meals. Staff is kind caring and responsive. Facility is a warm atmosphere. The activities staff really keeps the residents as active as possible.

a safe place to be

The improvements would be to answer the doorbell more quickly. I appreciated their willingness to take my husband on a daycare basis when I needed it. We would absolutely recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.
