Diane Cooper-Timmerman, the founder and administrator, founded Heaven House in 2010 after caring for her mother for over a decade, a challenging time that inspired her to open a small group home. Heaven House now includes four small care homes northwest of downtown Oklahoma City, each in quiet residential neighborhoods. Heaven House Elmwood is located just off the shores of Lake Hefner near several parks and a thoroughfare with grocery stores, restaurants, and shops. Integris Baptist Medical Center, an award-winning hospital offering a wide range of services, is just down the road and other top health care providers in the metropolitan area are easily accessible. Heaven House Services and Amenities Heaven House Elmwood is designed to feel like home. The home features several common areas with comfortable chairs whether residents want to enjoy the outdoors on the patio or watch TV inside. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with shady trees, flowers, and shrubs — perfect for watching birds or taking a breath of fresh air. Three home-cooked meals a day are served family-style in the dining room and snacks are available all day. Caregivers provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and dressing, and daily administration and management of medications. An on-staff physician is available for consultation and can be a resident’s personal doctor, making monthly visits to the home. Additionally, a registered nurse sees residents weekly. Heaven House also encourages activities to maintain the physical and mental well-being of residents. A personal trainer and certified activities director each stop by the home for individual or group activities. Caregivers also welcome residents to participate in optional tasks such as putting away groceries, baking, or setting the table to keep them engaged in daily life.
