The biggest concern has been the food quality. The vegetables are often too mushy and the meals tend to be overly salty. We spoke with the chef, who mentioned that corporate switched to a lower-cost food distributor, which unfortunately shows in the quality. As a result, the meals are not as good as we had hoped. On the other hand, the activities are excellent—this is one of the standout features. There’s a wide variety, and my mom truly enjoys participating in them. Another challenge is the dining structure. Go on a first-name basis with everyone. These people are only looking to help you so help yourself. The more I did right by them, the friendly they were to me. It's true one hand does wash the other. To this day, I firmly believe in being polite to of the staff. That's the key to getting along at Hessler.

Staff is great. Food is great. Activities could be better. I think the planned games are for younger people. Good movies. Some residents seem to not be "independent living" candidates. Mainly due to the activities comments - some residents do not share my opinions on that issue. I think it could be much better.
