CriticalThey are short staff and change every day. Students coming in will help this summer. My parents are both there. There are days that no one checks on them at night, so we then have accidents. When complaining they listen but nothing changes. They are in memory care so they eat last, food is always cold. Same old stuff with few vegetables. Rooms are cleaned once a week, but bathroom always seems dirty. Room size is adequate they are in a two room with bedroom on one side and sitting room on the other.

PositiveMy mother moved in [date removed] and there has been a remarkable improvement in her quality of life, thanks to the entire staff. From the move- in process, to proper meds scheduling, to dining, activities, daily caregiving and nursing. I so happy we chose Lorien.

PositiveThe Lorien staff were great along with the facility and clinical staff. I don’t think my Dad was too crazy about the food there but his appetite was not that great either. My only issue was with their 3rd party pharmacy called Allied Pharmaceutical. I thought they were a little bit predatory and did not respond to my inquiries on certain charges. I thought they were one of the better assisted living facilities in the area, so yes I would recommend them.

PositiveMost of the staff members seem to really care about the residents there. The dining room also offers a nice variety of food, and if you don't like the specials for the day, you have the option to order off of a side menu that has a few selections available for lunch and dinner. The food selections are way better than any of the other facilities that we looked at.

PositiveFirst and foremost, the entire staff got to know mom as an individual, not just another resident. Her likes, dislikes, hygiene habits and so on. Mom was an impatient person but the staff handled her "outbursts" with professionalism. The nursing staff informed us right away of any changes they noted with mom, be it a health issue or something as small of an item she was out of. There were never any surprises. The activities staff were excellent. Mom was an introvert but they went above and beyond to get her engaged …

PositiveMom has been at the Lorien at Mt. Airy for about five weeks now. She loves the food and activities and has made many friends. It was a great choice to move her there and also closer to family. Still working out a few kinks with her health care (audiologist,) or I would’ve given five stars
