PositiveThis is a very nice community servicing the elderly population, the rooms and accommodations are very nice, and the people are very pleasant.

CriticalThe place is beautiful. It is not intended for independent living. The apartments are very small. the food choices are limited. The mini kitchens are not built to supplement the choices. You allow dogs but tell me that the dogs urinate In the public patio. Stool is to be picked up but the urine is washed down only once a day at night. The ambiance is beautiful but all I saw was people sitting alone, not talking to others. No one was smiling or having a good time.

If you are looking for a Senior living community in the South Bay, Merrill Gardens is beautiful, clean and has a friendly staff. It is a great option if you fit the independent living criteria. They have a great community and activities for the residents. However, if you need any assisted living care or ADL tasks, while many of the med techs are wonderful people, it is under staffed and poorly Managed. You will pay extra fees for check ins, showers, getting dressed, Medication management, transfers etc. However th…

I was disappointed to realize there was no medical oversight. My mom has high blood pressure that she takes meds for. Fortunately she is in the habit of taking her blood pressure every day bc she caught it herself when it started to go up. I took her to the Dr & they increased her meds.
