Amazing staff

[name removed] was amazing. The staff was always kind and helpful. The facilities are beautiful. At the end the nursing staff had changed to a temp staff so that had some challenges but overall it was a great place.

Although I am living independently, I have been met with nothing but kindness and helpfulness. Okalee is a comfortable, homey place unlike several others I visited. The building is full of light and attention to detail, and the residents are friendly and cheerful. The food alternates between wonderful and mundane. Our Experience

The staff at Okalee of Medina is good, but we are not happy with all of the hidden costs that were not explained at the beginning and they say how they have a shuttle that goes out every week, which is true, but it is a joke. It only holds a few people and is nearly impossible to get on.

Found the right spot

I am delighted that we found Okalee as a place for my mom. It is large enough to have the amenities she wanted but small enough to easily navigate. To a person the staff has been warm and helpful, and the space is beautiful. I’m grateful we found a safe, welcoming space for my mom and look forward to her making new friends and engaging in new activities.

Mom loves Okalee, but wishes they would improve frequency of transportation options

The activities at Okakee are great. Their support for transportation is weak, and my mom feels it was not what she signed up for. They no longer have a shuttle. No plans to get one. Only 2 round trip rides provided a month. Without the shuttle, the residents need more options. Their "cost" for a resident to use their car service outside of the monthly allotment is highway robbery. It is a real opportunity for them. In my opinion there are management concerns by putting business considerations above the residents (not mentioning the frequent train horns during the night), handling safety issues, hiring and letting go and of employees, making rules after the fact, and I question the treatment of one (now dead) resident in the assisted living program.
