PositiveParkwood Estates feels more like an apartment complex than an elder care institution. Mom likes being able to do her own laundry but not having to cook her own meals. The people working there know all the residents' names. Most know my name. There is privacy when people need it and community when people want it. The surrounding yard and garden are pleasant for fresh air and a few laps around the building with benches and rocking chairs to rest at along the way.
★★★★★
PositiveIt seems like a nice, friendly community, the rooms seem old but clean. The main thing I think my sister would like is the main floor with a patio and grass. She isn’t ready to make a move yet.
★★★★★
PositiveVery helpful staff and very pleasant. They answered all of our questions and my brother decided to move in to the apartment. When he has a problem the staff are very helpful in solving his problem. I'm hoping he will take advantage of all of the activities and clubs that are offered. Maybe even go on an outing occasionally. He has met a couple of fellow residents that he enjoys talking with
★★★★★
PositiveThe facility has a nice entryway and lots of parking close to the entrance. There is a very attractive dining room on the second very near the elevator. The hallways are wide and the building is only two floors. The landscaping and trees surround the property are very pretty and provide much shade. There is ample room for residents to walk the floors for exercise without having to go outside during poor weather. The library has many books for the residents and there are other rooms for various classes and activitie…

PositiveThe staff there is wonderful. The facility is very well maintained and clean. The property grounds are beautiful, with great outdoor space, and there are many great amenities not common at a lot of independent living facilities. I have been very happy with everything about Parkwood Estates.
★★★★★
PositiveIt is a very nice place to live. If you are not a foodie like I am most of the people there. Enjoy the food, it's just that some of us who are more fussy, have our issues. Another issue is there are many people there who have memory issues. They can live alone or they do have senior helpers coming in once a day. But they're not able to play some of the games we play, they're not able to hold an intelligent conversation. The staff there are all fabulous.
