CriticalApartments VERY small. Control of medicine, ordering and dispensing, to include missed doses unacceptable. Director of Nursing seems uncaring, unfeeling regarding missed meds, particularly pain meds and anti depressants. Some meds dangerous if cut off without regard to gradual decrease. Servers and care givers always short staffed. We were told "when we get more residents we will increase the amount of staff". Some of the staff try their best but being short staffed and over worked because of that puts a huge burd…

CriticalI think other families should know that if their loved one has dementia they should keep looking. Sand Sage Memory Care Wing has untrained staff and lack interaction with residents. I cannot speak for the assisted living side but WOULD NOT recommend their Memory care unit.
★★★★★
PositiveOur apartment is a nice size. The food is good, the meal choices are a nice plus. If for some reason you don't want the selection served you may order off the substitution menu. The staff are friendly, helpful, busy, knowledgeable. Laundry is done for each resident individually. We are glad to be here.

PositiveI was looking for a facility that I could take my wife to for a short stay for respite care. I was impressed with facilities setup and security for the residents. The respite room was accessible for a handicap person with plenty of room. [removed name] was very helpful. With my wife's situation we decided to bring her home as we are 100+ miles away.
★★★★★
PositiveMy dad's experience at Sand Sage of the Highlands has been stellar. Moving from independent living to assisted living, made him nervous, but the staff has been 100% supportive and absolutely outstanding.

CriticalI have moved my husband from Sand Sage . I cannot comment on the assisted living side of Sand Sage of the Highlands but is my opinion that they should not be caring for those with advancing alzheimers. The staff in the unit are not properly trained. After only a month since my move he has IMPROVED not declined. You can read my review on the Sand Sage website
