Our staff rates us as a certified "Great Place to Work." We are a smart alternative to 24hr. home care, 1:1 aides in other assisted livings, and spending down to Medicaid in nursing homes. We prioritize care. Strong Nursing: We excel at higher level nursing, dementia, and hospice care. Our supervising nurse has 35+ years experience. We have an aide-to-resident-ratio of about 1:7 days, 1:20 nights. Cozy: Our home averages 42 residents. We provide full services, with easy all-inclusive pricing. Rooms come furnished and decorated. We feel like a warm real home, not a cold hotel. Loyal: We personalize care and recreation. We fill our home with loving staff and volunteers. Since 2016, we only lost 5% of residents to money. In VA & CT aid, residents get up to $5k+ monthly. Unique: The owner is a Marine Iraq veteran with a Harvard PhD. Both his grandmothers lived at Shady Oaks. He lives next door. Residents and families have come to us from 62+ CT towns. COVID: As of January 2026, only 14 residents ever got COVID here. We use 175 air purifiers (4 per resident room) and do frequent tests. Survey: Each year, we send anonymous surveys to the families of current and recent residents. Counting all 268 replies during the past six years, we average 5.0 stars overall.
