Starling at San Jose

, The People were wonderful, the place is beautiful, but the care fell short!

We were paying for Level 4 care for my Dad. I do not feel like we got that care. Had my mom not gone there every single day and helped my dad, I don't feel his needs would have been met properly. They were short-handed on staff many times. We loved Starling itself. We loved the people and know many assisted living facilities face the same issues that we found at Starling.

Our family's Experience

I haven't really been there at meal times or during the day due to work. So that makes it hard to evaluate the food but my mom appears to be doing well, eating more than she ate at home, and is more engaged than before living there. Her color is better, she is happier and seems to join others more than in the beginning. If I could recommend anything, I think having them incorporate more activities that build cognition or skills vs more passive activities like watching TV

We only used the day care for a few weeks. But my husband enjoyed it and wanted to go back.

Would not recommend

When it comes to the friendliness of the staff, some were 1s, others 5s but mostly 3s. I moved Mom from Starling [date removed] Their staffing was inadequate for her needs. When I found my mother in bed with clothes on from the day before and she was ill, I knew the facility wasn't being managed well. I would not recommend Starling to anyone

A good place for my loved one

Overall, our experience has been good here at this facility. We're having a few difficulties at the present time, but we are working through them. The food is very good and includes a great variety. The staff is very cooperative. They've had some staff turnover, including the head nurse. A lot of the Aides seem to rotate also for whatever reason. We had a good tour with Starling at San Jose. As far as looks go it was a very nice and clean facility. They were informative and did a great job. Unfortunately they did not have an rooms available at the time so we crossed them off the list.
