About the community
Nestled in southern Victorville, Sterling Commons offers a luxurious yet comfortable community for retirement. The surrounding greenery brightens the Californian desert, providing a vibrant oasis for residents. Nearby parks and attractions allow endless entertainment options. Additionally, residents don’t have to worry about deviating far from health care, because Sterling Commons is conveniently located near the medical campus. The community is a proud member of Koelsch Senior Communities. Koelsch is family owned and operated and has over 60 years of exceptional experience in the retirement industry. When families put their trust in Koelsch, they do not take it lightly. They strive to uphold the standard they’ve set by providing each resident with the high-quality, attentive care they deserve. Sterling Commons specializes in memory care. The community aims to foster a stimulating environment designed to help each individual thrive. Services and Amenities Memory care shouldn’t be an afterthought — it should be the primary thought. So, at Sterling Commons, the specially trained staff dedicate their time listening and learning from residents, so that they can tailor services suited to their individual needs. The staff focuses on preserving the abilities of each resident through personalized techniques. Key techniques include gaze, speech, touch, and verticality to help residents properly engage every function. These techniques connect residents with their cherished memories by enabling them to connect with nature, express their faith, and feel a sense of purpose. The community also offers a wide range of activities to stimulate sensory and cognitive functions, including music therapy, art expression, personalized exercises, and more. The licensed nursing staff works around the clock to help ensure residents are offered assistance with daily living activities, medication, and any other personal needs. The staff also works tirelessly to help provide a familiar atmosphere. The community features extra-wide hallways to prevent confusion, shadow boxes displaying each resident’s personal story, and surprises to help stimulate memories and personal histories. Sterling Commons is also committed to offering security, so the community is fully equipped with an advanced security system and staff is continuously trained in safety measures. All residents can help themselves to shared spaces. Residents are encouraged to bond with one another by dining, strolling, or relaxing together. The wonderful, restaurant-style dining room serves three nutritious meals daily. Residents can choose to enjoy meals with loved ones or one another. Additionally, residents can enjoy camaraderie within the living room, interior courtyard, garden beds, or the salon and spa. Living Arrangements and Unit Features For the social butterflies, Sterling Commons offers a shared suite designed to help roommates live together comfortably. For the more reserved residents, the community offers private suites designed to allow space for visitors. Both suites come fully furnished with lovely antiques and familiar decor, but residents are still welcome to bring personal items to help create a home-like atmosphere. Each suite has easy access to pull cords and call panels in case of emergencies. Care Types Offered Sterling Commons is a residential care facility for the elderly (RCFE) , which in the state of California is a housing arrangement for persons 60 years or older where supervision and personal care is provided based on the needs of the residents. These facilities are also known as assisted living facilities and board and care facilities . A residential care facility may provide care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s. ★★★★★
PositiveThey have a great administrative staff. They took much time and care to answer all questions. The staff was friendly. The facility did not suite my mother in law because of the following. 1.Her room door had to remain open during the day. Other guests were able to roam in and out of her room. 2. Her clothes were washed with the rest of the tenants and her items were not returned back to her. Her name was on her items. 3. The food was alright.

PositiveI would answer ALL a 5. I loved everything about Sterling Commons. Mostly, I would want to tell others that the staff treats their residents with dignity and respect. They always made me feel like, I too, was part of their family and my wishes were always happily fulfilled.
★★★★★

★★★★★
PositiveThey could work more on not discouraging visitors to come back to where their families are, they try to keep everyone up in the main common area so you can't really see what activities are going on.
★★★★★
PositiveThey do not want you to ever call and ask any questions, if you do call and ask questions they will red line your name. They have never allowed us inside the facility, I have only been up to the front door. Overall I would not recommend to others looking.
★★★★★
PositiveIt was a great experience even though it was a short one. The staff members were all wonderful and we were very satisfied with everything that they did for my dad. I would highly recommend Sterling Commons.
