Be involved and persistent.

Hopefully it will continue to improve for us. I fully believe it's only better because I'm there often and making sure changes are happening for my loved one. I'm not sure if this is true for those that have no consistent advocate. With dementia patients, change can cause major setbacks. If not for that I would have moved him. At this point I'm not considering a move. Unfortunately, I think the attitude of most memory care is the patient is unaware so it doesn't matter unless a family member makes waves.

Pleased with Our Choice

Both administrative and care staff are very helpful. My mother-in-law states she is comfortable and well-cared for. Rooms are a bit small, but bathrooms are very large and easily handicapped-accessible. Residents can get hair cut at the salon and have TVs in their room. Staff constantly check in on the residents.

Review for The Blake at Kingsport

If your loved one does not have any special care needs, Blake may be ok, but visit often, participate in activities and do not hide in room. They sales team will always say they can handle special needs, but check with the actual team that will be providing care.

Highly Recommended

The staff is very helpful and friendly. They are very good about communicating with the family about your loved one, and you can call and ask about them any time. The move-in process is smooth, but be ready to produce documents like Medicaid info, living will, driver's license, etc. The meals are very good. I would highly recommend The Blake at Kingsport to others.

You get what you pay for, a country resort experience.

My experience has been all 5s, except value for cost. It is a high end facility, and the cost reflects that. However they have the same staffing challenges as everyone else in the field. Housekeeping and bathing/ changing 90 somethings are not upwardly mobile occupations, so attracting superlative staff is not easy. They do a good job with the available talent pool though. The food is outstanding! The biggest problem my mom has with the facility is that it is noisy. The bathroom vent fan and room HVAC are more Holi

Review for The Blake at Kingsport

We picked this community, because the rooms were slightly larger. Well lit hallways, large gathering place where he could sit and listen to people around him and be watched over by caregiver at facility.
