★★★★★
PositiveThe commons space looks nice and welcoming with lots of natural light. My mom is younger than all of the other residents and is more active, we'd like there be more for her to do. The staff have heard our request and are trying to keep her busy more often.
★★★★★
CriticalCortland experienced a complete staff turnover within five months, and since then there has been a significant lack of communication. Despite the building being newly remodeled, there are no activities offered, and meals are prepared in a separate building. The call lights are unreliable and do not always work. For the most part, there appears to be only one aide in the building at a time. Some aides seemed unsure how to properly administer her Lantus, which was very concerning. PositiveThe staff and administrators are very helpful to me and my family as we navigate my mother's dementia and physical decline. From what I see in my time there, everyone at Cortland Northview treats the residents with dignity and care.

CriticalEvery one of the bad reviews on this page all the way down to 2018 are still current and valid complaints. I cannot stress to you enough that this place quite honestly should not even be operational. Every incident that happens there is brushed off and explained away. At what point does this place stop making excuses and just realize/admit that your team is not equipped to care for Memory Care patients nor is your corporation a reputable provider of such care. CriticalMore staff, a better online pharmacy (currently Synchrony). They're falling apart. Staff quitting and now more short staffed.
★★★★★
CriticalNot a place for loved ones suffering with dementia or Alzheimer. Or a memory deficiency. Staff not trained to handle the special needs a memory challenge person has. Workers don't show up, constantly under staffed. Communication is next to nil unless there is a problem. To be fair, this place was bought out in Nov-23 by a large conglomerate out of state. The staff is new, under trained in many roles. Much room for improvement for sure. From what I hear, this is status quo wherever you go.
