The Iris Memory Care and Retirement Cottages

Good communication with management upon signing up and during respite. Medical and other staff compassionate re: issues that developed over the stay. Disappointed in follow-up communication- took more than 2 weeks to have questions answered. Resolved in week 3.

Beware This Place is Horrible

Poor, poor quality of care at this facility. Critical medication was missed, showers not given, laundry not done, personal attention not given, clothing was lost. After I asked twice they finally showered but did not give the resident the help they needed. I observed the staff loitering around and socializing more than they were helping residents. Management did not appear to be overseeing this behavior. I went up a level and spoke with human relations at the corporate office. All they did was give me a credit on t

elow expectations and or needs improvement in certain areas from my viewpoint.

Difficulty in reaching facility director. Inexperienced caregivers and staff. Understaffed no activities director. Little family support. Have witnessed residents fall in the dining area even when staff was close by. Misplacing residents personal belongings such as hearing aids, glasses and clothing. Laundry service mixes up clothing.

I think the community is nice, but there is room for improvement.

I have found mom's room dirty several times and lots of food left on the dining room floor from morning till evening. I found clothes piled up in her shower as well. I feel like they could do better at taking care of mom and making sure she doesn't fall especially when they're watching her. It would be nice if they cut it for mom because she has Parkinson's. I think it is pricey for the care that they're giving. I would like more updates on how my mom is doing. Seems like they're losing clothes all the time. There'

Hello Sandy My name is Emily, and I am sitting as the ED until Rachel returns. I would love to discuss some of your concerns with you and come up with a plan to fix these issues. I will be here at The Iris until Thursday this week. Please stop by my office next time you visit your mother and give me an opportunity to make this right.

The service staff lack training.

Response from the community

Hello there. I would love an opportunity to address your concerns about our staff training in person if you are willing to meet with me. To put your mind at ease, last week we logged 8 hours of classroom Dementia training and we have another 4 hours of training this week. Education will always be ongoing for our staff to ensure they have a good understanding of their positions. I would love to know the specific issues that you have seen so I can include training on it at this coming training session. Please call the community or stop by my office next time you visit your loved one.
