Overall a nice community

From [name removed] in the front office, to the driver who accommodates them, the medical staff make sure they have what they need all the time to the dining staff, everything is amazing! They enjoy to food, they choose not to join most of the activities, due to my step-moms dementia, but very much enjoy their apartment being cleaned and their laundry service. We absolutely picked the right place for them!

Make sure you ask the right questions

This facility has nice studios, spacious & clean. Sales staff, [name removed] & [name removed] are wonderful. A special thank you to [name removed]and [name removed], they are phenomenal. This however is NOT A LICENCED NOR SECURED memory care. One employee went as far as to say she was not going to go get my mom if she left the facility because she was older & wasn't about to go chasing after her. I was completely transparent about my mom's condition, told them she is exit seeking, & AFTER an assessment with THEIR

First, we thank you for the kind words regarding the American House Sterling Heights staff! We strive to create a warm and caring environment. At our tours we do state that we are not a licensed and locked memory care facility, and we are in fact alarmed care. Although we truly regret the stress and inconvenience caused by another move, our number one priority is that we put the residents’ safety and care needs above all else. After our third-party home health care assessed the onsite needs and behaviors, it was determined that our facility was not the right environment for your loved one. We believe that their care requirements may be better met at a facility with specialized resources and staff trained to manage their behavioral challenges. We do wish you Mom the best in her future and care needs.

I had been working on my parents for approximately two years to agree to a move. My step mom has severe dementia and my dad had to become the main person for everything, something he had never had to do. They lived 2 1/2 hours from their closest family member and were pushing people away and making excuses for not coming to anything, always at the last minute. I finally had enough and ignored their last minute request to not come visit one weekend. I found them still in bed at noon when I got there. Their home was

American House Sterling Heights Senior Living review

I really love American House to date they have been great! The medical team also good and for the most part can't complain. I would recommend. So happy to be there. We are In the memory care unit but they are nice there. Food could be a little better and would wish they would help straighten up the room for them a little more but that it not a priority - they keep things pretty clean. No smell of urine, etc. Again we are happy and my cousin is checked on and supervised often always cared for which is most important

Always ask the questions that you may have, never assume. The staff is wonderful. Be involved, be present. Know that American House Sterling Heights and Medical are two separate entities, in the same location. The kitchen staff does the best that they can- they work hard on making something that everyone will enjoy. Just know that not everyone will agree with it. When we had to move mom into the Memory Care hallway, American House was very supportive and we were able to get mom moved over quickly. I would, and have
