Overall would recommend

I haven't been to Artis myself yet, but my brother reports that my mother is doing better there than at the previous place. I think that allowing the residents to go outside at will and to walk anywhere they want in the building is a much better plan than keeping them locked on one floor. I have had some telephone meetings with staff and they are always very informative and willing to answer any questions or concerns.

I did a video tour of the memory care building because I live out of state and they also had a virus going around the facility. Susan was very informative and showed me everything. I like that the residents can go anywhere in the building and also have an enclosed secure outdoor area to walk in as well. My Mom has dementia and has been able to exit other facilities. I think that the freedom to go in and out to a secure area without being constantly redirected will allow her to be much happier in this place.

This place is so unsafe. Not enough staff in the building all around and the residents can just push the doors open and fall down the stair case if the keep pushing a few times. They can even get outside, so dangerous and worrisome. When I walked the halls with the sales woman all the residents were on top of each other in the one main room downstairs it was so overcrowded I was not impressed at all. Unfortunately, my husband was recently diagnosed as needing memory care. Warm and welcoming atmosphere

Staff is wonderful and it has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. All private rooms...good size...lots of community space and numerous activities.

Good experience

We find Artis a good experience for dad. Not too crowded, residents are all levels of functioning. Good companionship. It is clean. Recreation is a plus. Common areas are nice.
