About the community
Barber Station Senior Living provides compassionate assisted living and memory care services to seniors in Boise, Idaho. Opened in 2019, Barber Station Senior Living combines modern amenities with beautiful natural surroundings. The community is built along the Boise River next to an expansive green space. Scenic foothills moving into tall grasses, aspen trees, and groomed walking paths make this area uniquely pleasant. And as a growing cultural center, Boise has plenty of shopping and dining options and excellent public libraries. In this 80-bed community, all residents receive their own private room, and all assisted living rooms come with a private bathroom and a kitchenette. The large windows let in lots of natural light and allow residents to enjoy the picturesque setting. While the goal of the assisted living wing is to provide residents with just as much help as they need to remain independent, every unit has an emergency pendant, and on-call nurses are available 24/7 to assist with any medical emergencies. For daily needs, kind and professional caregivers can help with dressing, bathing, and medication reminders. Caregivers who specialize in helping seniors with memory loss offer residents a sense of security and belonging as they engage them in activities designed to provide cognitive stimulation. Residents at Barber Station Senior Living find exceptional cuisine and a full schedule of enriching activities. Thanks to an in-house chef, the food is varied and delicious and caters to residents with specific dietary needs. In addition to the outdoor walking trails, the community also has a salon, chapel, gym, and technology center. PositiveMy sister and I have had considerable experience with memory care facilities through the needs of our parents and now our brother. The relationships with some other places started good but deteriorated with the change of key personnel or new management/owner. This time we feel like we found THE golden egg. It has been a blend of the best features we found in other places. Dementia comes with different challenges so there isn't a predictable "normal" . We quickly learned that this facility tries hard to work adjus…

CriticalI am currently a resident at Barber Station. I think I would recommend Barber Station Senior Living, with some caution. Communication with the family is somewhat limited. For instance: they didn't tell me that they don't have an accessible van. They only have a regular passenger car. Lots of the residents can't go anywhere.

PositiveBarber Station is a lovely new clean facility. They are still learning how to be a memory care facility. I appreciated the family style dining. I purposely visited during this time so I could meet the other residents and see how the staff cared for them. The direct care staff did great, and I felt they cared about and kept safe, clean and with dignity, both my dad and the other residents. They use behavioral techniques, not over medicating and the residents are mostly calm and content. [name removed], the recre…
