It's small and very homey. Not an overwhelming environment to adjust to. It's important to develop a relationship with the staff and help them understand your loved one's needs. Don't assume they know.

The building has nice aesthetics but the care is deplorable. Not just because they lack staff but because the staff they do have lack empathy, compassion and some do not know simple respect for residents or their families. The portion sizes for food is not enough to feed a child let alone an adult. Very disappointed. They promise services they are not equipped to offer.

The place is nice, but some of the aides there need to be retrained in Alzheimer's care. They have some really good aides and some really bad ones that aren't so nice. I feel that charging separately for disbursing meds is not good. I feel it should be included, and its very expensive. Otherwise the place is clean and meals are fine. I would recommend it overall. It's better than a lot of other places, even with the not so great aides.

I would say that A Place for Mom is a great starting point when looking for help in finding a quality living situation for any family member. We picked this community because of the proximity to family, reviews and in person visit. My loved one was on Hospice care at Bentley and they were all very caring. She only lived there for 8 months but it was a very good experience for her.
