About the community
Life at Brookdale Allenmore in Tacoma, Washington, will look a little different than life at home—but we have a feeling you’ll like it. When you move into our independent living community, you can say goodbye to the worries of mundane tasks like grocery shopping, cleaning the house and maintaining the yard. Instead of spending your time checking those items off your to-do list, you can spend your days befriending new and interesting people, discovering new hobbies and investing time in the people and things you love most. Imagine what it would be like to wake up and savor a warm cup of coffee or tea in a comfortable, sunny apartment that’s spacious enough to host your grandchildren. Or maybe you would rather linger on the balcony or in your favorite armchair with a good book to start your day. That sounds better than diving into the day’s chores as soon as you wake up, don’t you think? So what can you do with all your free time? You have options, like: · Take an invigorating yoga class with your friends · Experience the warmth of nature's solitude on one side of the community and the convenience of a lively cityscape, with medical, dining and shopping options on the other · Dive into your latest novel in the comfort of your sunny apartment · Enjoy one of our community excursions to Ruston Way Waterwalk, Owen Beach and other local attractions The hardest part of your day might just be squeezing in all the fun things you want to do! Plus, we’re a pet-friendly community, as well, so don’t forget to bring Fido along when you move in! Related: Assisted Living vs. Memory Care: What’s the Difference? PositiveI'm very pleased with my experience. The staff have been very supportive, helpful and friendly. All interactions with each person has been very positive and warm. I had thought I wanted a two bedroom apartment but the side-by side studios at Brookdale are just perfect for me and my daughter. Thanks to [name removed] for providing me this option. Having housekeeping and meals make me feel very pampered. Having assistance with small issues such as strange phone messages that may be scam is a relief. Enjoyable activit…

PositiveMy mom lives there. All management and staff are very nice. There are different apartment sizes and accommodations which fit a wide variety of needs. It's an older building but they keep it clean and are slowly updating what they can. The biggest issue is with the food. A lot of the residents complain that it is not good, sometimes inedible. They often don't cook what is put in the menu, and that they run out of things early a lot. The wait staff is very nice and tries to accommodate what they can, but the cook is …

PositiveBrookdale has been a great choice for me. I love the room and the caring staff. There is a great response to requests for assistance and many opportunities to socialize. Best thing for me is that Brookdale was affordable and within my budget.

CriticalEveryone has been very nice to my mom since she's been there. Apartment size and outdoor space for each apartment is the best attribute. The building is older and repairs are needed here and there, but overall it's clean and maintenance has been helpful when needed. The activities have been hit and miss and that's disappointing. The food seems to be cooked onsite, not from pre packaged meals, which is a plus. They've had a lot of turnover in the service area and lunches and dinners are slow to be served and service…
