What we like the most about Brookdale Utica is that it is clean, friendly, and they have good food. It is brightly lite with lots of windows, comfortable porch for nice weather. Mom really doesn't participate in activities. Activities could be more.

On the weekends and evenings from 5 on, just the caregivers are there and there are call offs. I'm really bothered that "in charge" staff are all gone on the weekends / evenings and no one is in charge. In my opinion there should always be at least one supervisor on the premises 24/7. They should also be calling individuals to come in to cover the call offs. Phones go off at 5pm. Good luck trying to get anyone. Response to a resident could be as long 20 minutes or more. They don't check to see if the resident is …

PositiveGreat choice for adults transitioning from home to assisted living
The staff is helpful when you need them. There is a nurse on staff and she is helpful to answer questions. However, it is difficult to get a hold of the nurse practitioner or doctor who is the one seeing patients at the facility. Sometimes it is hard to coordinate care. Also, I wish that they did "field trips" with the residents.

The public bathroom is usually dirty. They are not providing toilet assistance as often as contracted. Not properly administering meds, found some on floor. I can't get invoices electronically, can't get explanations for some of the line items. They get upset when asked questions.
