Love it here

I've been here 8 years now. I love it here. I'm retired and the rent is quite reasonable. Two buses (E. State and 7th St.) run by daily every half hour and the Charles Street runs hourly. The building is kept clean and if you control the cleanliness of your apartment it could be ideal for you. Great views being the tallest building in the area outside of the Chicago metro area. If you hear any bad reviews from past residence it's only because they didn't keep their apartment clean. I've seen several care givers thr

Don't send your relatives here if you love them!

This place does not live up to what is advertised! Don't send loved ones here. I have been here over 2 years, never a lease violation, but am trying to get out ASAP! It's worth the wait to get a better place to live!

This community is not what it claims to be.

As a disabled senior I don't feel safe here. They seem to rent to anybody, regardless of age and disability. Some of the people scare me in the elevator and just getting my mail. They need security 24 hours if they are going to mix younger people with seniors.

This community is not what it claims to be.

The only benefit is the subsidized rent. The laundry room is a joke, hit or miss if you find a washer or dryer that works. The hallways smell like garbage, urine and marijuana. It says senior/ disabled living but I see a lot of people here that are neither of those. The entrance smells like an ashtray and I must use a walker but the back entrance has stairs that I can't negotiate.

For me, my experience at The Grand at Twin Lakes was not a good one. The staff did not do what they said they would, and their attitudes were very negative. The community was very clean, and maintenance was great, but the food was overdone, and they were not willing to accommodate special dietary needs. They had activities at The Grand, but most were for women. There really was not a lot going on for men. Overall, I did not enjoy my time there, and I would not recommend the community to anyone.
