PositiveHappy with our choice
The staff really puts a lot of thought into providing different activities for the residents. They are also very family oriented. They do monthly family brunches. They keep everything very clean. The food is wonderful. And her 1 bedroom apartment is the perfect size. It doesn't feel too small at all.

CriticalConcerns over new ownership
I'm concerned by recent firings and/or people leaving Oak Pointe. A strength of this facility has always been its compassionate, caring staff. It's been a real source of comfort and peace for my loved one. I realize that new ownership has different policies and procedures. I sense that these changes have damaged overall morale. Reading other reviews from other locations seems to bear this out. Perhaps Viva should review their policies and attempt to retain their best caregivers.

I would definitely recommend Oak Pointe! They tend to have the same challenge as all of these facilities; staying fully staffed! But with the exception of one person, who is no longer there, we felt like the staff genuinely cared for our mother. The night we lost mom, in August of 2023, we had many staff members who were not even on duty, stay with us to provide comfort to our family. The facility also provided a bus for residents and staff who wanted to attend mom's visitation; even though it was an hour away! We …

We have been very pleased with this facility and feel like we made a great decision in moving Mom into this facility! We have found every single staff member to be friendly, helpful, and truly caring! You never get the feeling of "that's not my job" from anyone there; even those in administrative positions are very interactive with the residents, sometimes even pitching in to help serve meals or clear tables. I just love the fact that they always have some type of activity goin on. You can be as active as you want, or you can choose not to participate if you don't want to. They provide lots of outings for the residents, which I think is great. And everybody is super friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

My father-in-law was the one looking at a bunch of different facilities and he was much more impressed with Oak Pointe of Kearney than he was with any of the others that he saw. It has been a good experience and we would highly recommend the facility to others.
