About St. Joseph Village of Chicago

This vibrant urban community sits nestled amongst several Chicago parks and is just a stone’s throw from the breathtaking St. Hyacinth’s Basilica. The community offers cozy pet-friendly apartments, quality assisted living services, and professional memory care. St. Joseph Village is only a few minutes from downtown Chicago, making it easy for residents to enjoy a day of shopping, fine dining, or taking in a show. Founded in 1894 as St. Joseph Home, the community became St. Joseph Village in 2006 and underwent a significant remodel. Chicago’s first Catholic senior living facility, St. Joseph Village has a rich history of offering optimum care to its residents. Residents can attend Mass daily in St. Joseph’s quiet chapel where soft sunshine pours in through the windows, and then enjoy made-from-scratch meals in the community’s elegant dining room. St. Joseph’s seniors can get pampered in the on-site beauty salon and get their hearts pumping in the community fitness center. In the warmer seasons they can take advantage of the gardens and furnished patio. Residents of St. Joseph can remain integrated with the greater Chicago community and take advantage of all that it has to offer. All 5's. They are what they say they are. Nice people to work with. Go above and beyond at times as well.

very satisfied with my decision to place him there

The staff and administrators were very responsive to questions and concerns. I was able to attend all activities if I wanted to and sit with the group to listen to music or watch tv. They held care conferences and the whole family was welcome.

Best ever

My husband had therapy following a fall. He came home a different person physically. He recently had surgery and is back for more therapy. I am so relieved and thrilled that he has been able to return. The therapy is fantastic. Great, kind and caring staff. We have confidence that he will return with the excellent results he had previously. If you or a loved one needs nursing/therapy care consider St. Joseph.

Would recommend

There's no reporting system i.e. does my wife participate in activities? That would be helpful to have. The staff at St. Joseph Village seems to truly care about the residents.

room for improvement

For respite care - Overall ok place. Bathroom door didn't close, alert button and room phone didn't work, room facing Main Street, very loud traffic. Management was helpful, but nurse got meds mixed up and almost gave mom wrong meds. Close so friends could visit. Very clean. Bilingual staff. They should have all things in working condition prior to client arrival. I probably wouldn't use them again.

Compassionate Staff

All fives. The aides in particular were outstanding! Kind and compassionate day after day ( I was there almost every day) while dealing with an oftentimes difficult patient population. Their kindness was extended to me every day I was there. Having worked in health care for 35 years I was truly impressed by these wonderful women and men who cared for my husband.
