Providing quality compassionate care since 1988, Tall Oaks Assisted Living is an idyllic community in beautiful Fairfax County. Located on a quiet wooded campus behind a small Reston shopping center, Tall Oaks Assisted Living offers convenience, privacy, and warm hospitality, along with its many luxurious amenities. Tall Oaks Assisted Living is never without social activities, but if quiet is what you seek, there are plenty of spaces to retreat — from each resident’s room, to the lounges, the library, or the spacious front porch. Residents can choose from a variety of gorgeous private apartments, all with beautiful bathrooms and spacious tiled walk-in showers. Some apartments are equipped with a kitchenette, and all have plenty of natural light streaming in from large windows. A licensed practical nurse is on site 24 hours a day, as well as the staff who are ready at each moment to offer support with activities of daily living. The community’s memory care unit offers cognitive support and stimulating activities. The community partners with Tall Oaks Medical Center, with doctors and specialists making frequent house calls to ensure the residents’ wellness. The Tall Oaks community’s convenient location is minutes from Reston Hospital, The Reston Town Center, and Wiehle Avenue Metro Station. PositiveWell-trained, compassionate staff
We chose Tall Oaks in the midst of a dementia crisis. They were able to help us in a pinch. The care is a good value. They do not have enough staff for "extras" such as delivering his mail to his room (he would have to go to the front desk himself which he obviously can't do), but they patiently bathe him, and keep his room and bathroom reasonably tidy. Staff did not know how to handle the needs of the resident, who needed enhanced care. Enhanced care had been promised but was not delivered.

PositiveOverall a nice community
Most of the staff are excellent. They truly want to help. There are some activities in the morning and afternoon and very few at night. My mom's room is a studio and it is a big studio and very nice. Food for the most part is good and they always have another menu to order if they don't like the mail meal. The meal supervisors are very good!

Positiveadequate assisted living in a warm, caring environment
The admitting staff was great about moving our family member out of the hospital and into memory care. There was some trouble with communication about what services would be provided once he arrived at Tall Oaks. For example we've had trouble understanding how to obtain some services that seem very basic such as mail delivery. It is our current understanding that we are responsible for picking up mail from the front desk and delivering it to our family member's room. This is a challenge since we live 3000 miles awa…

PositiveGreat place. Highly recommend.
I would rate them all 5. Tall oaks is everything we had hoped. My sister is very happy there. We like the atmosphere and organization. The staff is friendly and many go out of their way to do the right thing. There is good communication with relatives when an issue comes up. Well run, clean and organized. The people in charge are very accessible!

With one or two exceptions, the staff is competent and caring. The work is difficult and the staff are patient and kind. They make an effort to know the residents and make them feel welcome. This is our first experience with assisted living. Tall Oaks is recognized for its family atmosphere and this very much helps the residents to adjust to living there.
