Review for The Abbewood Senior Living Community

When my father in law passed away before the end of the month. They still took out his rent. It took many calls to get it back weeks later. They check on the residents when they do not go down for meals. Which is how they found my father in law. The food is ok but cold and liked the fact that we could eat there with him and pay a small fee. Being seniors the walls are thin. My father in law was told his tv was too loud. They offered him headphones but he didn't want to have to wear them to watch TV.

Mother-in-law finds everything and more at Abbewood

My mother-in-law is very content at The Abbewood. She thinks the staff is very nice and they take care of her needs. The fact that there is a salon to get her hair done , makes her very happy , because it's been a long time since she's gotten her weekly do. In the evening she has said she gets a bit lonely and bored because most people go to their rooms , and there is rarely anyone to interact with. Inconsistencies in quality of patient care and relationships with family members

Many of the staff were fine. Some were rude and inattentive however. Also, the quality and level of care in the mornings was lacking - nowhere near what we were told to expect. Not all of the nursing & aide staff seems to be adequately trained in handling patients in palliative / hospice care status. I should also add that a member of the senior leadership team was particularly uneducated regarding end of life care and actually disregarded (and went contrary to) the patient and family's wishes.

The staff at The Abbewood are very kind and friendly. They know their residents and look out for them. If anything comes up that concerns them about my mom, they call or text me. The food is very good. I've eaten there several times plus they have "family dinners" every so often which are very nice. It gives us caregivers a chance to meet other residents and their caregivers. The Perfect Choice for Our loved one

I gave a 5 because each time I talk to our resident , she tells me a different story about how well she is treated . Whether it is the new activity that she was involved in , like I would've never imagined her playing corn hole ! She talks about how delicious and satisfying the meals are . The cleaners that come on a regular basis to vacuum, clean the bathroom, and help her by washing her bedding and putting it back on. I would recommend it

The staff members are very nice and the community itself is very clean, however, our loved ones room could use some improvement with the housekeeping. We understand that lacks a little due to the staffing issues but we have to do a lot of our own cleaning, dusting and changing sheets.
