The Laurel at Vernon Hills

Thank goodness we happened upon the Laurel at Vernon Hills Memory Care. They were wonderful for her and for us throughout the rest of her life. The Laurel was wonderful and I wish it had been on our short list when we were first looking for a place for my mother-in-law. If they are not on your radar, they absolutely should be.

We are considering a transfer from another community. I hope what I’m being told and what I’m seeing are hopeful for a good stay. Ratios of help to resident are lower, one concern is the shared bathroom. I’ll write again to let you know how our transition went with management and care.

They took very good care of my father and treated him well. My only concern is fall safety, and I hope they make some adjustments to help prevent future incidents.

Disappointed

Sadly, the new director has not trained the new staff and our family member fell unattended, amongst a host of other problems. The staff is untrained, despite them advertising otherwise, the residents are soiled and the bathrooms are dirty and the staff ignores the residents and oftentimes not a single worker is monitoring them. Ease of mind, care that includes the whole family

The staff is very attentive, friendly and patient. They have multiple activities each day for participating and there are some tailored to the different level of ability. They bring in outside guest for things like music therapy and animal support. They get 3 well prepared meals and multiple snack throughout the day. A great facility with excellent caregivers.

As far as my evaluation of The Laurel, she received excellent care and I would recommend their memory care facility. The staff members are well trained and they care deeply for their patients. They went above and beyond to care for [name removed]. Near the end, the staff worked in tandem with hospice care to keep [name removed] comfortable and reassure my family during a very difficult time.
